I’m still playing around with my new scanner this afternoon on yet another rainy day (goodness, when will it end?). Laundry and housework can wait; I’m having way too much fun.
Learning how to use watercolor pigments was certainly a challenge, but it was well worth the effort. I love the bright, transparent, highly saturated colors.
Cymbidium orchids in watercolor. This painting is based on a tutorial in Ann Mortimer’s book, “Orchids in Watercolor.”
Beautiful! 😉
Thanks, Cynthia.
It’s like there’s a light behind your art shining thru, wonderful colours and composition
Thank you, Kelly. I can’t resist beautiful flowers.

Thank you, Crazy Bag Lady, LOL!
Lovely…we need these brilliant colors on dismal days
We sure do!

Thank you, Carol.
Lovely work.
Thanks so much, Pat.
Your watercolor is beautiful. I find it very challenging to paint with watercolors and get that translucent look…mine tended towards muddy looking.
Thank you, Karen. I find using less paint equals more transparency when using watercolor paints.
I hope that someday I’ll have more free time to paint again and you will be my inspiration to achieve that transparency. 🙂
Another beauty Jill!
Thanks so much, Elena.
Really lovely! Great color!
Thank you, Susan.
Another beautiful artwork! ❤️
Thank you, Violet.
Hi, well the scanner seems to be doing a brilliant job. Maybe I do need to revisit the idea. Do you think you would get such a good finish on coloured pencil work, they have more inherent texture I think.
I think it would do a fine job with colored pencil. I can scan one of my colored pencil drawings and post the result so you can take a look.
I like how you captured the bold center of the orchid and the lightness of outer petals. Lovely!
Thank you, Heather. I was a little hesitant to add the red in the centers of the flowers, but I think it worked out just fine.
