First Scan on My New Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner

What a beautiful scan. My watercolors never looked so good. The Epson Perfection V600 photo scanner is affordable, compact, lightweight, easy to set up, and a snap to use. Since I typically photograph my artwork in the evening, I was plagued with artificial lighting issues and shadows that I couldn’t easily correct in Photoshop without distorting the color. Bye-bye lighting issues and unwanted shadows. Hello gorgeous color.

The Epson Perfection V600 also solved a problem I was having with my camera capturing the texture of the cold press watercolor paper that I typically use. I don’t want that texture to appear on high-quality prints. Thank you so much for the fabulous gift, Mom, Greta, and my bestie, Tami. It looks like instead of doing housework and laundry on this rainy day, I’ll be playing with my new scanner.

Night Fairy in Watercolor

I’m just getting back in the groove of painting and blogging after a seriously relaxing three-week-long vacation. I had to break back into blogging slowly–I didn’t want to shock my system after doing a whole lot of nothing, LOL! This is another painting that I thought I could complete quickly but it took way longer than I anticipated. I worked on this moon flower fairy for four days. The pearls in her hair were quite time consuming and tedious to paint–they are tiny. This painting is based on a tutorial in the book, “Enchanting Fairies–How to Paint Fairies and Flowers,” by Barbara Lanza.

Mushroom Fairy in Watercolor

This little mushroom fairy proved to be more time consuming than I’d anticipated, but I’m pleased with the results. I’ve been working on this painting since last weekend and was beginning to think that I wouldn’t complete it before the week was done. This painting is based on a tutorial in Linda Ravenscroft’s book, “How to Draw and Paint Fairies.”

Columbus Day Paint Fest–Rainforest Fairy

I thought it was time to switch things up and create another fantasy illustration so I painted this rainforest fairy during our Columbus Day weekend family paint fest. This painting was quite time consuming and challenging but I learned a lot and I’m satisfied with the end result. This painting is based on a tutorial from “How to Draw and Paint Fairyland,” by Linda Ravenscoft.

Last week, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and paint something completely different. So I picked up a copy of Linda Ravenscroft’s book, “How to Draw and Paint Fairyland: A Step-by-Step Guide for Creating the World of Fairies,” got down to work, and this is the end result.
